Thomas Sowell has written many books on racial politics and economics. This book combines both in classic Sowell fashion.  Sowell, friend to the late Milton Friedman, is masterful at understanding and disseminating the dynamics of modern economics. Having come out of the inner city poverty of Harlem he also intimately familiar with racial issues.

This is one of his early books that is unfortunately out of print (but still available as an Audio CD). Nonetheless, it is filled with the kind of insightful gems that only someone with Sowell’s knowledge and background could give.  If you want to understand why some peoples succeed where others fail this is the book for you.
